Climate Change Scotland (CCS)

Climate Change Scotland Ltd. has chosen the TICOS destination climate change service to support it in its objective of minimising damage to the environment through carbon emissions which are leading to climate change. The initiative is very relevant since Scottish tourism is, to a large degree, dependent on the perception (and reality) of Scotland's pristine environment.

Climate Change Scotland is an industry-led, voluntary initiative that allows all constituents of the Scottish tourism sector - and beyond - to make the link between their activity and its impact on carbon emissions. It is an initiative developed by the Tourism Innovation Group (TiG), the Scottish tourism industry leadership group. Climate Change Scotland gives tourism businesses meaningful differentiation to help attract today's discriminating and ethically conscious consumer. It can be incorporated as an integral part of a company's CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) strategy, will improve a company's reputation, and may well save money through cutting energy bills.

Climate Change Scotland Ltd. directly controls the marketing of the scheme to tourism operators in Scotland and to tourist visitors.   TICOS provides the management and expertise to deliver carbon-reducing projects located in Scotland and funded by Climate Change Scotland contributors. TICOS already has procedures and protocols in place for each of the key functions required for the initiative: the carbon calculator, appraising projects and calculating their carbon credit, financial controls and external validation. Income raised for projects will be administered by TICOS in association with Climate Change Scotland.

Details of projects in Scotland and their status can be viewed in our Climate Change Scotland project pages. The generic TICOS project pages explain how TICOS validates project submissions and how it delivers projects that pass validation. Please contact us for further information on projects.

Our science and policy pages will give you more information on the technical aspects of the TICOS programme.
