Bali Climate Change Conference
As you may know this week saw the culmination of the Bali Climate Change Conference attended by senior officials from many governments, leading scientists and business and social leaders. Leading up to this conference a survey of over 1,000 climate decision-makers produced these results.
These make interesting reading and I am delighted to say in many ways supports the early decision of TICOS to operate its climate change policies within a wider sustainable development agenda and to fund projects which achieve sustainable benefits alongside those of carbon reduction.
Two significant findings were:
- that decision-makers put surprisingly high emphasis on the protection of biodiversity and having sustainable development guide climate action
- respondents (87%) made clear that climate action must be taken within the framework of sustainable development
TICOS now has the biggest portfolio of project applications from organisations seeking to make climate change benefits. We are currently evaluating 57 project proposals from over 30 different countries and are actively seeking even more to satisfy the specific wishes of some of our service users. All of our projects will achieve significant climate change benefits and at the same time wider sustainable development goals.
TICOS is both a service of the here and now and for the future.
